Meet Serah and Luce!

Posted by JM Darhower Monday, April 29, 2013, under | 5 comments

As (I hope) you know, I have a new story coming out this summer titled Extinguish. I'm super excited about it (and admittedly a bit nervous)... it's my foray into a supernatural world after tinkering around with all humans for pretty much forever. I'm so happy with how it turned out and I truly think you'll enjoy it. I've grown to know the characters these past few months while writing, and wanted to introduce you to them :)

Serah, one of the many warrior angels, has brunette hair and deep brown eyes. She appears fragile, almost vulnerable, with her small frame and 'colorless' skin, but she's feisty and extremely strong-willed by nature. She sees the good in everything and everyone around her. Nothing means more to her than family and innocence.

Luce, the stubborn, sarcastic "King of Hell," is frankly rather bored and holds a grudge against his family. Sturdy and tan, he's covered in scars and dark marks that keep him imprisoned down below. He enjoys toying with people and playing little games, pushing the limits and testing the water, so to speak, to see how much he can get away with.

The two are truly opposites on the surface, but deep down, they share a common trait: the desire for more. Serah has questions... ones she comes to realize only Luce can answer for her. As they grow closer, all Hell breaks loose... literally.

Ahhhhh! *pets screen* So how about a little teaser? Yes? Fuck yes?

He inhaled deeply, tilting his head back as he closed his eyes. A coinciding vortex of wind gusted by, stirring the dirt and the bottom of her dress as it whipped her hair into her face. She brushed it away as the air calmed down, his eyes slowly reopening. "You smell like my brother. His scent is all over you. It reeks."
Serah stammered, stunned by those words. "I, uh. . ." He could smell it? "Look, Satan. . ."
"Stop," he said, the scathing tone harder in his voice. "My name’s not Satan."
She hesitated. This wasn’t going well. "What would you rather be called? The Prince of Darkness?"
"I’d prefer my name."
A hint of a smile ghosted across his lips. "You can call me Luce."
"Lucifer," she said again. "I just came here to ask—"
"To ask me to stop the fighting? To give peace a chance?" He laughed bitterly. "I know why you came here, and you can just turn around and leave right now. I won’t have someone walking into my territory and disrespecting me, treating me like I’m nothing, calling me that filthy word like it's my name. You want to talk to me, angel? You want to have that conversation? Come back when you don’t stink so fucking much."

Extinguish tidbits

Posted by JM Darhower Sunday, April 21, 2013, under | 2 comments

Hey, guys!

So, in case you missed it, the Forever 17 Books blog unveiled the cover and synopsis for my new paranormal romance novella Extinguish yesterday. EEPPP! So exciting! I'll include them below, but here's a link to the blog... go show her some love (she's a lovely lady).

Forever 17 Books

If you have a book blog, or if you're an active book reviewer, and would like to be considered for an ARC of Extinguish, there's a form you can fill out. I'll link it below. They should go out within the new few weeks. You'll be contacted for your format-of-choice whenever they're ready :)

ARC form

Also, YAY, Extinguish is up on Goodreads! Add it to your shelf, 'k?

Over the next few weeks, as we wait on the release (and on Sempre news, of course, which I still promise is coming!), I'll introduce you to the characters and release a teaser or two (or three lol).

Yay? YAY!

One… Two… Three… Four…
I Declare War

Serah always believed the world around her was perfect. As a Power, one of the warrior angels, she has spent her existence defending the innocent from evil. After tragedy strikes, tearing Serah's brother from her life, she's given the task of stopping the approaching apocalypse before it's too late.

Only one thing, though: she has to venture to Hell to do it.

Lucifer—or Luce, as he prefers to be called—has been biding his time in Hell, longing for revenge against those who oh-so-easily cast him into the pit. When the heavenly beauty shows up at his gate, he's just as captivated by her presence as she becomes of him. The attraction between them is palpable, and Serah's willpower slowly slips. How can this charming creature, this scarred Archangel, be the one annihilating the world she so loves?

As the war wages on, the world entwined in chaos, Serah starts questioning everything she ever knew. When the light and dark, hot and cold, finally collide, she has to make a choice—a choice that sets her world on fire, black and white exploding into colorful flames.

Serah has questions. She wants answers.
Luce just wants to play a game.

P stands for Pretty

Posted by JM Darhower Monday, April 15, 2013, under | 6 comments

Yes, you. You there. You're pretty. Is that a new outfit? It looks spectacular on you. Honestly.

Now that I've sufficiently creeped you out, I'll get to the point... the point of which is you. I mean, let's be real... without readers, writers are pretty pointless. Even if no one read my words, I'd still write them, because writing has always been therapeutic for me, but you guys are who truly make it worth it. Your passion helps fuel my passion. Regardless if you love my work or hate it, if you're indifferent to it or even on the fence, just the fact that you pick up a book/story that I poured my soul into and you give those words a chance, that you allow them to simmer inside of you, bouncing around your brain and maybe seeping into your heart, is truly a dream come true for me. So thank you. Truly. For taking a chance on my characters.

I do have some tidbits of news for you. Firstly, my paranormal romance novella has a new name! It's officially titled Extinguish and has a tentative release date of June 1st. That may change due to some publishing conflicts, but that's what I'm aiming for. A cover reveal and synopsis, along with a small excerpt, will be released within the next two weeks or so. I'm super excited about this story, and I KNOW it won't be everyone's cup of tea, so to speak, but hopefully you'll give it a chance while you wait on "The Unnamed Sequel".

As for Sempre, news to come soon that will (hopefully) explain the delay. I still promise it'll be released in some form by the end of the year. As far as a Sempre movie (something I still get congratulated on almost daily), I want to be absolutely clear one more time: there is no movie deal. There is no studio, and no script, and no contract, etc. etc. etc. There was a plan, and a hope, and there's still a hope, but not-so-much a plan, and definitely not a deal. And again, as I've said before, that's okay. I'm okay. You're okay. Sempre is okay. Haven and Carmine are okay. Vincent's, well, he's Vincent, and Corrado may or may not be okay, I can't really say. You'll have to ask him.

I do, however, know he's pretty. Really. Here's how I see him, in case you haven't seen the other 273554829873 pics I've posted over the years:

That's Italian actor Raoul Bova. He's very pretty. Right? RIGHT??

Now that I've wasted a few minutes of your time, I'll go slink back away to my writing cave and work on Corrado's story some more.
